Welcome to the STEAM Magnet Program at Lehigh Acres Middle School!

STEAM is a 21st Century approach to learning that involves different aspects of the creative process. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math are the disciplines that are explored in STEAM designed lessons and integrated into all subject areas.

This guide students’ inquiry and help them unlock their creative thinking and thus becomes a new way in which students can approach learning.  LAMS offers a variety of STEAM classes to help prepare students for the future.

Project Lead The Way provides transformative learning experiences for PreK-12 students and teachers across the U.S. We create an engaging, hands-on classroom environment and empower students to develop in-demand knowledge and skills they need to thrive.

Lehigh Acres Middle School offers App Creators, Computer Science for Innovators and Makers, and Design and Modeling through Project Lead the Way.

 

RoboticsRobotics

Robotics uses the engineering design process to help students to create robots, limbs, and other electronics that assist in the needs of the 21st century.

This course is open to 7th and 8th graders. 

 

CodingCoding Fundamentals

In this course students learn how to get artificial intelligence to do what we need it to do. Students will learn coding in addition to video game design.

​This course is open to all grade levels.

This art course uses multiple styles and techniques to allow students to express themselves creatively. Students will have a complete portfolio that incorporates high school prerequisites and a lesson from New York’s Parsons School of Design.

This course is open to all 7th and 8th graders who have completed
Art 1.


Scan of fingerprint  Forensics

Discover your inner crime scene investigative skills by analyzing fingerprints, identifying blood droplet patterns, and examining DNA samples. Real world application of the scientific method will assist students with their findings.

This course is open to 7th and 8th graders only.

Culinary Arts

A true infusion of science in arts can be found in this course.  Not only will students experience cooking hands-on, but will also understand the science behind the dishes they make, in an effort to help them become the culinary artists of the future!

This course is open to all grade levels.

 

Fuse StudioFUSE Studio

This course encourages students to “ignite and nurture STEAM exploration” in a studio environment. Through several STEAM projects,  students learn to master various STEAM concepts at their own pace.   The ymay  choose to advance to the next level of a project or move on to explore other STEAM areas.  Topics include robotics, 3-D design, engineering, coding, electronics and more.

This a mandatory, semester long course for 7th graders. .

The engineering design process is at the core of creation.  Students are taught the principles and concepts of designs first to help them create an electronic rendition of their creations.  Then they use computer generated design to create the real thing!

This course is open to 7th graders.

 

Music Clipart

Exploratory Music

For students who are interested in music but are unsure of the specific class they should take, Exploratory Music is for you!  This class explores a little dancing, singing, and samples different instruments to help you find your place in the music world.

This course is open to all grade levels.

An all-girls computer coding course which aims to close the gender gap in computer science by 2027. Will you join the 90,000 girls worldwide who use what they learn about other women in technology to solve problems in their own school and community?

This course is open to 7th and 8th graders.
