Principal's Message

Greeting Bruins, Parents, Guardians and Community Members,

It gives me great pleasure to be Principal at Lehigh Acres Middle School.  I am super excited for this school year. It is truly an honor to become part of the LAMS family and community.  Lehigh Acres Middle School administration and staff are committed to ensuring that our scholars are academically challenged.  We deliver a personal, career, and college education to prepare our student for an ever-changing world.  This year, we plan to continue the rich tradition that has been established by hosting the AVID Demonstration Showcase, Cambridge and Leader In Me Trainings.  We offer a variety of diverse courses to help our students become well-rounded and prepared for high school.  We are also excited to provide Geometry, a high school course for our students.  As you may know, we are a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) Magnet School that infuses instructional best practices in our classes that are innovative and creative for our scholars in order for them to think outside of the box.  This year our theme is Constructing Future Leaders: Engineering Student Success.

The 2019-2020 school year will be an under-construction year for Lehigh Acres Middle School as we continue to build all of our programs to gain more momentum as a STEAM Magnet School.  LAMS is the only school in South Florida to offer our scholars STEAM groundbreaking courses.  Our scholars participate in STEAM infused classes that involve critical thinking, collaboration, and thoughtful dialogue where our scholars exchange ideas and discuss ways to problem-solve.  Some scholars might approach STEAM with excitement or curiosity, while others might be more timid or apprehensive.  Whatever the approach, our amazing teachers are ready to support and guide them.  Not only does a STEAM framework teach our scholars how to think critically, problem-solve and use creativity, but it also prepares our scholars for STEAM-related careers, and our ultimate goal of making ALL scholars become college and career ready!

We address issues that may seem trivial to our scholars, such as proper dress code, but good character is important in life. Being in class on time, ready to learn, and demonstrating respect for one's self and others are non-negotiable expectations. We have high expectations for all our scholars regardless of ability level. We strive to help every scholar embrace a demanding curriculum that “pushes the envelope,” thus preparing them for college and career. Hard work and relationship building is the key to success in life.

To our phenomenal and amazing Parents, we have planned more activities to involve you in your scholar’s educational experience at Lehigh Acres Middle School.  I hope you will join us, as we know that students with involved parents earn higher grades and test scores, have better social skills, and show improved behavior.  I encourage you to attend our SAC meetings, which are the 1st Tuesday of every month.  With your support, I know this will be a fantastic year.

I look forward to an engaging and rewarding school year with you and your scholar.

Sincerely,

Brian L. Gibson, Extremely Proud Principal
